Happiness; the key to Life’s satisfaction

Before we delve into finding satisfaction from happiness, let’s define what happiness and satisfaction are.

Happiness in psychology is a mental or emotional state of well-being, which can be defined by positive emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. A happy mental state may reflect judgments by a person about their overall well-being.

Satisfaction is contentment, and contentment goes a long way in not only building someone but it’s also like a training. It modifies your thinking and changes your perception of your needs from wants. You’d not have to go an extra mile for wants when your need hasn’t been met, you get the opportunity to prioritize your needs by screening them and be satisfied with the pace with which you go.

What is life? And what is happiness without satisfaction?

Life is more like a buffet or cafeteria than a restaurant. In a restaurant, you eat the complete dinner before paying the bills, but at a buffet, you serve yourself and pay in full before enjoying the meal. It’s now left to you to either get satisfied from the meal or just carry the cross and paint it the color you want.

So, if you are told you’ve got to get everything fixed, money, friends, party all night long for you to be happy then you are on the verge of panning foolishly penny wise and you go about pleasing people. Yes, you are growing up physically but from happiness, you are growing apart. Because you can’t win on the outside if you are failing on the inside, the same way you don’t necessarily need people to be happy. It’s a personal game, you get to be happy by yourself because not everyone will make you happy without expecting something in return, so teach or better still train yourself to be happy genuinely.

From definition. happiness means intense joy, and it’s nothing without satisfaction. The songwriter Dolly Parton wasn’t mistaken when she said they didn’t understand what I’m trying to make them see, one is only poor only if he chooses to be.

With that mindset that even if you don’t have enough, that doesn’t stop you from being happy. That you don’t wear clothes and shoes in vogue doesn’t mean you should be downcast or trade your esteem for it. That shouldn’t create an avenue for you to join a bad gang. Whatever the situation you find yourself, smile at it first before reacting negatively, and have a positive mindset about it.

Happiness without satisfaction is like having to build your house on somebody else’s land.

Sounds ridiculous, right?

Because each time you remember that the land doesn’t belong to you, it’s as good as not even building a house; you get to live in fear as minutes turn hour and hours, days. So also is happiness without satisfaction. Happiness brings about contentment and contentment is what? Satisfaction.

So, what are the things to do to be genuinely happy?

  1. Make sure to be happy without attaching it to only good tidings.
  2. React positively and not negatively to certain life issues.
  3. Life is not a bed of roses, so it’s not going to give you goodies always on a gold platter. Make the best of each turn of the tide.
  4. Don’t compare yourself to others, because you not only lose your self-esteem, you’d not be happy.
  5. Failure is not the end of the world, so that’s not a perfect reason for you to be unhappy.
  6. Screen your thoughts.
  7. Motivate yourself each time, ceaselessly.

With the above in mind, you get to be content with your pace and time not because you’re compelled to be content but because you are truly content. And you can face life at any time whether it brings limes or smiles.
