Welcome to the month of May, trust the last few days have been “exceptional”?
Today, we would be looking at three characteristics that make an exceptional teenager. In Simple terms, Character traits that make you unusual, distinctive, not typical and very different from a regular teenager.
With the notion that teenagers are easily distracted, frequently lose interest in things and are always in search of a new adventure, a lot of people have concluded that they can’t be entrusted with certain tasks and responsibilities. So, as an exceptional teenager, keeping your head in the game and staying committed to the task at hand, whatever it is- from maintaining high grades, to completing a project, to being intentional about your Spiritual growth, it all boils down to staying focused and committed to your goals.
While Diligence means careful and persistent work efforts, Resilience according to the Merriam Webster dictionary means the ability of something to return to its original shape after it has been pulled, stretched, pressed or bent. So, as an exceptional teenager, while you stay focused and committed to your goals and put in all the work required, what happens when things don’t go as planned? What happens when you experience a major setback?
Resilience is what takes you back to the drawing board, retracing your steps, discovering your mistakes and doing things differently.Tweet
While other teenagers decide to quit, exceptional teenagers put in the extra work required to make things right.
It is a common notion that teenagers can’t discover their purpose until they are way into their 20s but this is untrue. While regular teens take each day as it comes, without a definite direction for their lives, being tossed to and fro with the wind, exceptional teenagers have a sense of purpose and ride with it.
The presence of Purpose is what births diligence and resilience, because it would be difficult to stick to something that you haven’t been called to, especially when everyone else thinks its stupid to remain in the game.
This is a major drive that keeps you going, productive, successful and exceptional.
I trust that in this month of May, you will strive to:
- Discover Purpose
- Stay focused and committed to your plans
- Be diligent and resilient about goals
Have an exceptional MAY! I await your success stories!
How else do you think we can stay exceptional amongst our peers?
