LPOH 8.0 Update | Two Locations, One Goal

Over the past years, we have reached out to thousands of people, including teenagers, young adults, and elders in communities, streets, homes, etc. What started out as a means to commemorate our anniversary has now become a project that can’t be stopped.

For the Eighth edition of our annual Leaving Prints On Hearts (LPOH) event, we visited two locations – Lagos and Ile-Ife Osun Nigeria. Below is a full report on how the outreach went.

Old People’s Home in Yaba, LAGOS

On Saturday, 27th July 2024, the TMO Lagos team participated in a heartwarming and impactful outreach at the Old People’s Home in Yaba, as part of the TMO (Teens Meet Outreach) LPOH 8.0 initiative, themed “Leaving Prints on Hearts.”

The primary goal of the outreach was to extend a hand of fellowship and support to the elderly residents of the Old People’s Home. The TMO Lagos team sought to provide them with essential food items and, more importantly, to spend quality time with them, engaging in conversations and uplifting their spirits.

During the visit, the TMO Lagos team made a significant donation of food items to the home. The contributions included:

  • 3 bags of 5kg rice
  • 3 large bags of semovita
  • 10 packs of spaghetti
  • 2 rolls of tomato paste.

These items were intended to help meet the dietary needs of the residents and contribute to their overall well-being.

The management of the old people’s home allowed the TMO team to connect with roughly 10 to 15 elderly residents. Beyond the material donations, the volunteers (Solomon, Omolola, Elizabeth, Tofunmi, and Mercy) focused on creating meaningful connections with the elderly residents. They engaged in heartfelt conversations, listening to their stories, and learning from their experiences. It was a time of mutual exchange; the residents shared words of wisdom, offered prayers, and even provided encouragement to the younger generation.

The outreach was deeply emotional and had a profound impact on both the volunteers and the residents. The TMO team left with a greater appreciation for the wisdom and resilience of the elderly, while the residents felt uplifted by the attention and care they received.

ILE-IFE OSUN

LPOH 8.0 was held in Ile-Ife on 27th July 2024 at Covenant Orphanage and Welfare Centre, where the team had a chit-chat with the kids and also shared some items. We had earlier visited the home and requested what their needs were, so we could assist.

Items shared were educational materials such as:

  • Books
  • Pens
  • Toiletries for the newborns.

Number of Hearts reached: 40
