School Outreach 23 – Ibadan, Nigeria | PadATeen Project 2026

On Wednesday, 25th March 2026, the TMO Ibadan team successfully carried out a Pad-A-Teen outreach at IMG Grammar School, Yemetu, Ibadan and reached over 90 girls in total. Our preparations for this outreach began a day before, when we went to the market to purchase sanitary pads for distribution.

We set out at 8:30 am and arrived at IMG Grammar School, Yemetu, Ibadan, in time for our 9:00 am appointment. On arrival, we greeted the teachers and the principal, after which the teachers gathered the students into a hall to begin the session.

Miracle Abraham opened the session with a discussion on puberty, covering the physical and emotional changes that accompany this stage of development. She also discussed the significance of International Women’s Day (IWD) under the Give to Gain theme, emphasizing the importance of TMO empowering young girls with knowledge and resources to support their confidence and wellbeing. She further educated the students on menstrual hygiene practices, encouraging proper self-care, cleanliness, and open communication regarding menstruation.

Better Ajiboye followed with a practical demonstration on how to use sanitary pads correctly and how to dispose of them safely and hygienically. The students were actively engaged throughout the session, asking questions, replicating the demonstrations, and participating enthusiastically. After the demonstrations, we opened the floor for questions and awarded gifts to students who participated actively.

We then distributed the sanitary pads in collaboration with the teachers. The turnout exceeded the number of pads available, so we collected the names of students who did not receive any to ensure follow-up provision.

At the end of the outreach, the team reviewed the session with the teachers and school leadership. The staff expressed appreciation for the initiative and requested a possible additional session focused on sexual health education, particularly for the older students.

We also gifted drinks to the senior members of staff and those who supported the facilitation of the event. The outreach officially ended at 11:03am.

Pad-a-Teen 2026 showed us the appetite these young women have for honest, practical conversations about their bodies. From the shy pre-pubertal girls to the bolder young women, everyone had participated actively, asking public and private questions that told us the session landed well. The teachers’ request for a follow-up session on sexual health is an opening we hope to return to, and we look forward to building on what we started at IMG Grammar School.

Special thanks to our TMO Ibadan volunteers: Miracle Abraham and Better Ajiboye

TMO aims to reach teenagers across the world, reminding them that they can be and do better, and while we hold several projects, the PadATeen Project is one of the ways through which we do this.

NOTE:

For this edition, we intend to visit three locations and this is only the first. At the end of all three, we will share a full, detailed report of all locations, including a financial report.
