Honestly, with the noise that distracts this generation and our ever- decreasing attention span, it is hard to keep to keep longing after God and God alone.
I like to think that Psalm 42 is a very special psalm. Each verse depicts a soul that has an increasing longing for God.
In her album, Tory Kelly describes the quiet place and how longing for God alone can fill the desires of our heart.
We can try to fill the voids of our hearts with material things, yet we cannot be truly satisfied unless we fill our soul with Jesus
Verse 1
There’s a quiet place
That gives me peace when I’m alone with You
There’s a hiding place
Your Spirit’s always there when I’m confused
Only You can purify
All this world won’t ever satisfy
My heart, it cries
[Chorus]
As the deer pants for the water
So my soul needs You Lord
When thirsty God, You’re the living water
And my soul needs You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
[Verse 2]
I’m a stranger here
Thirsty ’cause I know it’s not my home
Like a desert here
I need Your living Word for these dry bones
Jesus fill us up again
With Your presence flowing deep within
New life begins
[Chorus]
As the deer pants for the water
So my soul needs You Lord
I’m thirsty God, You’re the living water
And my soul needs You Lord
As the deer pants for the water
So my soul, needs You Lord
Thirsty God, You’re the living water
And my soul needs You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
[Bridge]
Quench our hearts and fill this space with Heaven like a flood
Holy One reign down on us with Your consuming love
Quench our hearts and fill this space with Heaven like a flood
Holy One reign down on us with Your consuming love
[Chorus]
As the deer pants for the water
So my soul, I need You Lord
Thirsty God, You’re the living water
And my soul, Jesus, it needs You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
I need, I need, I need you Lord
I need You Lord
[Outro]
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
I need You Lord
John 4:14 remind us that drinking from the well of life that never ever runs dry keeps us truly satisfied. This week, I hope that above all we learn to constantly long for God and never forget to go back to the well that will always be there to fill our longing.
Side note:
If you are confused on what book of the Bible to study next, I will strongly suggest going through the book of psalms. Trust me, you do not have to be a lover of poetry to fall in love with the words.
How do i get the song
