Music Monday | Ah-mazing Grace

Happy Happy Monday,

To my Nigerian Friends, Happy Independence and I hope you enjoy your public holiday!

Anyways, I attend one of the few churches that still sing “old-school” hymns. Every once in a while, they spice it up with modern day hymns but for the most part, we stick to the older ones. Honestly, it took me a while to adjust to singing those kinds of songs at church because my previous place of worship was definitely different. Then, I had no choice really so I had to stick with the “change”.

A couple of years down the road and definitely tens of hymns later, I can proudly say I do not mind hymns. To me, it is not just about the tune or melody. It is about the words beautifully crafted and the inspiring stories behind every single one of the hymns. Amazingly, most of these songs are not far from my lips anymore.

Today, let’s go down memory lane and soak in the words of Amazing Grace by John Newton

Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now I’m found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

The Lord hath promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.

The Grace of God is nothing short of amazing. It is indescribable yet it radiates so brightly that it brings people to the understanding of the light of God.

This week, I pray you never lose sight of the Grace of God that is so amazing

Until next week,

Enjoy God.
