7 Ways to Acquire Wisdom

I want to suggest to you these ways by which you can acquire wisdom

1. Be saved

That is, you need to surrender your life to Jesus. When you have Christ, then you have found the Wisdom of God. “…Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1Cor. 1:24b). If you surrender your life to Christ and accept Him as your Lord, time and eternity will prove that you have made a wise decision.

2. Be filled with the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of wisdom and understanding” (Isaiah 11:2). By letting the Holy Spirit fill, control and direct your life, you can gain access into the wisdom of God on a daily basis.

3. Meditate

Meditate on the Word of God day and night and obey whatever it says. When you walk in the light of the word of God, you are walking in the wisdom of God. It is the word of God that makes us wise in every issues of life (2 Tim. 3:15, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3).

4. Be committed to preaching the gospel

God gives wisdom to those who are committed to preaching the Word of God. Eph. 3:10. A wise man is the one who is committed to the ministry of the gospel 1 Corin. 2:10. When you preach the gospel, God sends His Holy Spirit to minister to you. 2 Pet. 3:1-5; Colo. 1:28. That was the case with Apostle Paul.

5. Pray

Prayer brings God and His omnipotent ability into the affairs of your life. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).

6. Interact with the wise

The Bible says that as iron sharpens iron so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend (Proverbs 27:17). It also says that whosoever walks with the wise shall be wise and that a companion of fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20).

7. Fear God

Finally, it is good to understand that the foundation for all these is the fear of the Lord. It is the person who fears the Lord and cares about the steps listed above, that is wise. That is why the Bible says that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10). If therefore you want to operate in wisdom and be successful in life, you must fear the Lord. Wisdom is the gift of God for those that fear Him (Job 28:28).

Whatever it is that you have to do, whatever you seek to achieve, or become, wisdom is your principal weapon. And it is available from God if you will ask Him for it.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” James 1:5.
