Why Your Tongue Must be Tamed

The tongue is a member of the body, The tongue is a speech enabler. Folks without a tongue are mute.

The tongue is what makes us talk, and as much as we all want to say something, we should be conscious of what comes out of our mouth.

Why Should You Tame Your Tongue?

1. The tongue is a carrier of divine power

I read a story of a Boy whose dad always told that nobody in their family will ever go to a University; Secondary school is the farthest they would go. And truly, it did happen, two of the children got rusticated from two different Universities for one reason or another.
That’s the power of the tongue. Expect to see whatever you say come to pass. No matter how long, your words will take place in reality. That’s why your words must be thoughtful and wise.

Proverbs 18:21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

2. The tongue is Fire

It is fiery and full of flames, it can set the whole of a nation on fire, it can burn up family ties. Relationships can be ruined, love may be lost. A typical instance is rumour. When a particular person talks bad of another and subsequently makes it go round, it would take a radical clarification and integrity for the victim’s image to remain unsoiled. That’s how grave the tongue could be.

James 3:6 And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

3. The tongue brings calamity

Lots of people have been drowned down the river of life because they kept their tongue unguarded. Some are serving undeserved punishments while some are living life just emptily. It is wisdom on your part to bridle your tongue, and man your words to stay free from calamities and troubles.

Proverbs 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

Our tongue as teenagers must be kept bridled every now and then. A man that is wise is a man who has his tongue controlled. A careless use of the tongue will defile your whole being, and bring you unexpected problems.

Starting from this moment, be conscious of the things you say!
