Knowingly or unknowingly, we build strongholds, and in an attempt to shield ourselves from the snare of the fowlers, we become the fowler. We become edged in by the same walls we built to shield us, captives of our decision, slaves to the ourselves.
We sometimes want to so much run away from the stone that made our close friends fall, we so not want to thread the path that led to the downfall of the saint we once held in high esteem. Though we don’t follow the same route, we, one way or the other, end up the same way they did.
What is this stronghold?
A stronghold is a bridge we build while trying to shield ourselves from the unknown, making us fret over the unknown and most times, assumptions.

You try to change the future that’s not yours but in the end you end up in the future you planned out with your hands which was never meant to be yours. Why?
Because that voice keeps telling you, your mum failed in her marriage, why shouldn’t you?
Your sister got admission into the university at 20, why should yours be at 17?
Your dad died at 50, why should you think of having a long life?
Nobody ever graduated in your family, do you think can break that?
What makes you sure you can break the cycle?
Who says you can, when all your family members can’t?
And much more discouraging words keeps haunting you day and night till you become scared, and then you walk right into your nightmare.
If you care to listen to another voice aside the usual you always listened to, why not take a peep outside that dark room you built yourself, step out from the box and do things as you and not as the generations before you did?

Live as the limited edition God created you to be and not the doppelganger of that person you held in high esteem that failed.
Look at life with positivity.
Christ should be your stronghold, not some fear that keeps you at the edge of your seat.
