In discipline, you have denial, order and self control.
Denial
This involves being ready and able to say no when necessary. It’s an ability to decline the gratification of appetites or desires. Daniel was able to decline gratifying his appetite of eating the king’s meal.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel 1:8
You can deny yourself of some things, though it might not be comfortable for you but still it would be for your own good.
Order
Putting oneself to order has to do with being cautious and knowing the right thing to do at the right time. There are instances that requires that you put yourself to order without anyone doing that for you. It takes a conscious effort.

Self-control is important for health and well-being. A few worthwhile ambitions that require self-control are; excelling academically, exercising regularly, eating healthy, not procrastinating, giving up bad habits, saving money, and others.
