Are You Truly Living?

I really love this month’s theme because it touches an important issue of life that everyone must take note of. If your life was to be examined using certain parameters, would you be said to be living or existing? If you were to be on your death bed; looking back, would you be satisfied with the kind of life you have lived? Are you living purpose or just passing time? Are you living or existing?

Yes, there is a big difference between living and existing. It is what separates game changers, influencers, legend, great heroes, etc from mere living beings.

What does it mean to live?

Living is finding and fulfilling a purpose, it is giving of meaning to life. Living is impacting lives, it is influencing. Living is active!

What does it mean to exist?

Existing is passing time, it is wishing and not doing, it is complacent, it is merely making up the number of people in the world. It is passive!

There are about 7 billion people in the world and trust me, a larger percentage of that number is merely existing. So many people have not found meaning to their lives and you know the sad part, they don’t even know that there is more to life than what they are currently experiencing. Are you one of them?

The purpose of a life is a life of purpose.

Robin Sharma

Yes, life goes beyond sleeping, waking up, eating, going to school, wearing designers, getting a job, getting married, raising kids and dying. That is a sad summary of life, that is too complacent. A life that is truly lived is one that is purposeful!

A purpose driven life is a life that is driven by something great, other than itself.

Ibukunoluwakinsha

Do you have something that daily drives you? Something that keeps you up at night? Something that helps you impact others positively? Something that would outlive you? If your answers to these questions are No, then you need to take an introspect into your life. You need to check whether you are actually living or just passing time?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did.

Mark Twain

Yeah, you see that book you have been hesitating to write, twenty years from now, you would regret not writing it. That campaign, business, or outreach you didn’t do, you would wish you did it. That phone call you didn’t make, that text message you didn’t send, you would wish you had done those things.

Living is for the daring, not for the timid! For you to truly live, you must be ready to take life-changing decisions, you must be ready to drop that complacent attitude, you must be willing to take life by its horns, you must do it afraid!

The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.

Louis E. Boone

So many people have died with regret and pain because they didn’t have the courage to live rather they merely existed. How are you living today?

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

Fulfil purpose! Impact lives! Change the face of things! Leave your footprints in the sand of time! Refuse complacency! Refuse mediocrity! Be bold! Take courage! Laugh! Sing! Dance! Love! Quit existing! Live truly!

Try to make the best out of this month and year.
