The PadATeen project held in Ogbomoso on the 29th of March 2019 at Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomosho.
We got to the school venue by 10 am and went to the Vice Principal’s office. He directed us to the school Hall where we are to wait for the students to assemble. After about 30 minutes, the students were gathered already and the opening session/introduction was taken by Victoria.
She informed them of who we are (Teens Meet Online) and what we have come to do (to distribute sanitary pads in commemoration of IWD).
Afterwards Victoria took the lecture and sensitized them about what the need to know about their sexual hygiene.
Doyinsola then came up to take few practical aspects on how to use sanitary pads.
We had 4 other volunteers that joined us (Doyinsola, Adebukola, Ayanfejesu and Demilade). Adebukola and Ayanfejesu handled the question and answer session.
The students asked a lot of questions about things bothering them concerning their menstrual cycle and health generally. A lot of misconceptions were addressed.
Doyinsola and Demilade helped with distributing the pads to the student.
There were a total of almost 140 students in attendance.
The session ended around 12pm after the sanitary pads had been distributed to all the students.
We also gave some of the teachers a pad each. It was really a great moment spending time with the students.
