Becoming a Better you

Life is a journey and becoming better every day is the goal.

Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.

Ralph Waldo Emerson.

It is every person’s utmost desire to become better every day. No one wants to remain where they are now in the next five to ten years and definitely, no one wants to remain the same old self they were.

If you want to continue to grow as a person, here are some ways to make the most of yourself:

1. Compliment Yourself

A lot of people often talk about self love today. Love yourself. Be confident in who and what you are. Compliment yourself. Do not look down on yourself. You’re strong, wise, beautiful, handsome, intelligent, purposeful and worth more.

2. Don’t Make Excuses

You need to own up to your actions and not give excuses just because you do not want to receive the blame. Receive the blame with the mindset that you would get better. Learn, Unlearn and Relearn.

3. Let Go of Anger

You’ll interact with people and they’ll definitely step on your toes. Letting go of anger is easier said than done but when you do, you’ll realize it is for you and your peace.

4. Practice Forgiveness

After letting go of anger, it leads to forgiveness. You’re able to leave the past and move on with the future. Practice the mantra which says “I forgive you and I release you”.

5. Be Honest and Direct

You’ll have causes and opportunities to lie. But when no one is watching, your integrity is put into question. Will you keep it and stand for the truth or lose it and move with the sway?

6. Be Helpful

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

But even with the inspiration of others, it’s understandable that we sometimes think the world’s problems are so big that we can do little to help.

On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.

Becoming a better person doesn’t happen overnight, but it is possible. Believe in yourself and know that it is possible!
