Health Benefits of Water

H2O is the most widespread known chemical formula, even to people who have no interest in Science. This tells us something, that water is so important that it cannot be avoided; it is of extreme importance to the sustenance of life on Earth.

70% of the human body is made up of water and needs to be kept constant at that proportion for homeostatic balance. Although the primary source of energy on Earth is sunlight, its fundamental function of photosynthesis cannot be completed without the addition of water.

Water is Life

This is why the issue of health benefits of water must be preached, especially in these times of global warming, immunity non-resistance, and many other complications arising in the ecosystem.

Let’s talk about Water as food

There are six classes of food, namely:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Proteins
  • Minerals
  • Vitamins
  • Fat and oil, and
  • Water

Most people misinterpret Water to be the least essential among the classes of food because it is usually listed last. However, this would be a wrong school of thought, as Water is the Universal solvent that dissolves and ensures the proper digestion of all the other classes of food. That being said, let’s look into the precise health benefit of Water.

1. Digestion

Apart from the fact that Water aid easy movement of food from the mouth, it also transforms food into a state that can be transported by the blood to other parts of the body.

Water is essential for good health. Water and other liquids help break down food so that the body can absorb the nutrients. Water also softens stool, which helps prevent constipation.

2. Oxygen and nutrients Circulation

In functioning, the blood requires oxygen to transfer nutrients across the living cells, organs and tissues. Oxygen is an important component of water; for every molecule of water, two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen is released, which helps the haemoglobin component of the blood to function efficiently in circulation nutrients.

When body water level is reduced, the blood becomes more concentrated and, at a point, this triggers the kidneys to retain water. The result: less frequent urination.

And the thicker and more concentrated blood becomes, the harder it is for the cardiovascular system to compensate by increasing heart rate to maintain blood pressure. When your dehydrated body is ‘pushed’ – such as when exercising or faced with heat stress – the risk of exhaustion or collapse increases. This can cause you to faint, for instance, when you stand up too quickly.

3. Skin care

There are two most important things that your skin requires of you for it to pop. One is balanced food and the other, lot of uncompromising clean water, both from the inside as drink and on the outside for bath.

Constant supply of water to the skin vessels indirectly supplies Oxygen and increases the ability of the skin pore to open and take in fresh air.

News Splash, the temperature of water used for bath also influences skin care and maintenance.

4. Brain efficiency

The vessels in the brain function most effectively when there is constant supply of Oxygen to it. Consider this to the engine of a car or even a computer; if the internal fanning system (air supply) stops working for a while, the engine becomes overheated, and the first remedy for this condition in a car is to pour in some water. Not far from what happens in human engine- the brain.

So, next time your brain signals that “things are hot up there”, lol, drink a lot of water and breathe in through your respiratory openings.

Another issue of concern here is that most people respond to this thirsty signal from the brain by taking carbonated drinks. How well does this serve out brain? Let’s do the juxtaposing together.

According to Brainly , there are (1000/18) × [6.022 × 10^23] molecules in 1 litre of water, which is equals to 3.346 x 10^25 molecules of Water, which also equals to 3.346 x 10^25 atoms of Oxygen.

While in Carbonated Beverages which has carbon dioxide (CO2) injected into the fluid for effervescence and/or a more acidic taste (McCellan, 1955).

Typically, a volume of CO2 three to five times that of the water is used!

So, the truth is glaring, we know which serves us best!

The reason why fruit is a recommended beverage over carbonated drinks is because the water content is relatively more and the sweeteners are natural.

It’s that time of the day when we need to pay adequate attention to what goes into our body, because though the results are not immediate, the future times will tell.

This list is not in any way exclusive of the health benefits of Water and you, the reader, are encouraged to check out more authorized resources on the subject matter.
