Teens God Use (In Prayer)

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth brought forth her fruit (James 5:18)

Elijah, though a great prophet, was a man of like passion like us – not perfect. A man who right after his victory in Mt. Carmel, became afraid and discouraged and ran away. He tapped in grace and prayed. Yes! That’s the strength of a teen God use, teens that stand in gap. Whatever God will do through you is in respect of His grace. Grace does not abrogate our affections but prefer them. Grace directs our nature, helps our infirmities.

Elijah’s faith, earnestness and sensitivity to God helped him to know when to pursue divine purpose in prayer. He knew when to pray for rain not to fall and when to pray for heaven to send rain. He prayed when God told him that He would send rain (1 Kings 18:1). He was not casual or sentimental about prayers. He prayed fervently. He did not only believe in His praying, he was determined, persistent and concerned. He thrived in prayer.  Elijah’s prayer released power that controlled nature. When our heart is right as a teen, our infirmities will not hinder our prayers.

The background to this account of Elijah’s prayer exploits is found in 1Kings 17:18. Wicked King Ahab and Jezebel, his queen, has led Israel away from God and into idol worship of Baal. For three and half years there was no rain and the earth was unable to produce the crops necessary for life just as Elijah pronounced in prayer (1Kings 17:1).

Again, in another season, he went to the top of Mount Carmel to seek God in prayer for the release of rain. He prayed, and as he prayed, he sent his servant seven times to see if there was evidence of rain. It was only at the seventh time that there was an evidence of rain. Before long there was a heavy downpour of rain, and the nation was saved.

Prayer is a good remedy in desperate cases. When God wants to bestow blessings or avert evil, He stirs the heart of His people to pray. We should learn to be sensitive and alert to what God is set to do as He set us to pray.

Remember that a prayer-less man is a powerless man.

No situation is beyond the remedy of prayer. When you are lost to other hopes, you are not lost to the hopes of prayers. You only need to pray earnestly, pursuing purpose. We should pray in prayer, not just to say a prayer. Pray the prayer, the Heart-focused prayer.

Elijah prayed and heaven send rain and the earth produced fruits. I believe this is the time when heaven will send rain on our lives (to bring a quickening of withheld blessings, a refreshing that removes dryness). Our ground will produce fruits.

Teens God use are teens given to the ministry of prayer…
