When I was little, there was this song I enjoyed so much, the joy I felt whenever I sang it was from above.
“This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…”
Looking back now, I realized singing it back then was just vibes. I loved the energy that came whenever I sang it with my friends but now I realize how deep it is and how it is more than just a song.
I have been seeing a lot of posts on light of recent and our church theme for the year is LIGHT. So let me ask this question; What is light? I know we’ve heard many times how light shines so bright and darkness can’t comprehend. I know we’ve heard of people who aren’t just existing but also living, people who are making a true impact, people who are light and are shining so bright.
Lowkey, we all want to illuminate the world. I also want to make an impact, I want to truly live, not just exist or be a passer-by. Are we bringing a tiny light to the darkness of this world? Whether through honesty, graciousness, patience, positivity, or myriad other qualities, it’s a question worth asking ourselves.
Then, what must we do? We should make up our minds to give what we have, a life lived consistently in charity and humility, a life that spreads goodness; a life of loving service.
We might not be able to change the world but we can change a life. Our shining light draws people to us.
