Having potentials is different from really doing something with them. There is a huge difference between being successful and actually living purpose.
For instance, you are at the peak of a particular mountain and the world sings your songs of praises for this attainment. Alas, deep down inside you, you know that this is not what you want. No matter how high this mountain seems to be, you know that this is not where you want to be, you just don’t feel satisfied being here.
You and I know that the only solution to this challenge is, changing the mountain. You need a different mountain. No matter how much glory the whole world seems to give to you, you will never feel satisfied until you change that mountain. You’ll agree with me that that mountain wasn’t even yours, to begin with.
The above illustration is what reinvention is basically about. The Need To Be Different. The Need To Do Something Differently.
The English dictionary defines the word Reinvent as To adapt into a different form. To give a new style or image to. While Google defines it as to Change something so much that it appears to be entirely new.
There is a certain wake-up call you get when your heart needs to reinvent the entire you. Some of these signs could be in the form of questions like; What exactly am I doing with my life?”. Some of these signs could be when;
- You barely feel motivated. You’re yet to leave your bed in the morning, but you’re already having a bad day.
- You wake up with some sort of low energy and the absence of enthusiasm.
- Sometimes, it might just be certain signs from life and reality, telling you that you’re due for a change.
Friends, the world needs your purpose. We all have a duty to mankind. What do you have on the inside? What can you offer to the world if money were not an issue?
Truth is, you were designed for something uniquely beautiful. It is in you. If you feel like you’re not fulfilling purpose, it only means that you are yet to chisel off all the unnecessary things and allow the beauty show. This unnecessary stuff may be in the form of negative self-talks, certain routines, habits and negative associations.
What then are the Steps to Reinvention
1. Be Sure About How Important This Journey is to You
Before reinventing yourself, you must first think about why you need to embark on this journey and how important it is to you.
How bad do you want this? Do you even have need for all these to begin with? What are you willing to sacrifice for this? Are you ready to adapt to change? What is your aim?
These questions might be daunting, however, they are much needed.
2. Inspiration
This is the sudden rush of brilliant or timely idea or the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially something creative.
Find that inspiration that gives you a taste of joy. What are you inspired by?
Inspiration can either be Passive or Active.
Passive Inspiration can be gotten from consuming the ideas of others like, reading books or articles authored by others, seeing a video or by reading the success stories or others.
Active Inspiration, on the other hand, is the act of creating new things and even making mistakes in the process (it’s all part of it).
Through Active Inspiration, we tend to discover what is important to us, which is a pointer to who we are. However, both work together.
3. Write Your Own Reinvention Goals in Short Term
If you are willing to pursue your dreams, your goals automatically change. Sacrifices too, will change.
In this journey, try not to create long term goals. Make them short termed and very realistic. (You don’t want to overstock yourself in the very beginning). Make them short and attainable, goals that you can actually keep up with. Say two week, a month or two months term. Be sure that you’re actually accomplishing them and vivid changes are seen also.
